Getting this post up late but proud of myself that I got it done at all! To check out what some other Friday’s looked like for people participating in this project check out Ali Edward’s Blog.
My day started like most days do….quiet time with my Bible and journaling before the boys were up.
This week was teacher appreciation week at the boy’s school and Friday was a superhero theme day. Clayton only wanted to wear his elf pj’s (which I discuss a bit more back on this post) but I convinced him he could wear his pj’s under his spiderman pants and that seemed to do the trick.
Ryker on the other hand was easy today. Here he is in his favorite outfit that he wears at least three times a week – his superman shirt and his “favorite red pants.” For a couple of weeks now he’s been saying I can throw them away because they are a bit too small and have a major hole in the knee but inevitably he asks to wear them anyway almost daily.
We are experiencing “May Gray” this week – I promise this is truly a thing in Southern California. We get cool overcast mornings that usually clear up by late afternoon – but this week it’s pretty much been gray all day. Anyway, we’re still wearing sweatshirts to school most days and Ryker chose spider-man to go with his shoes and the superhero theme.
Tim took the boys to school today and when he was putting something in the garbage can, Clayton heard him and was very concerned that someone was messing with his can without him.
Ready to go! Ryker didn’t understand why I wasn’t taking them to school today and I didn’t want to admit it was only because I wasn’t ready to get dressed for the day yet.
After the boys were off, I went to my computer to work on my Thursday Week in the Life images and post. I can’t wait to have an actual office set up where I’m not crammed into a tiny nook!
I loved Ali Edward’s image of her feet in the shower she posted earlier this week and since I wasn’t in a rush to get the boys to school today, I took my own version of it.
Next up was more laundry….
And then it was time to start my weekend project. I had hired a painter to come paint my office on Saturday so I needed to clear out the room today. This room has been a catch all clutter closet since we moved in to this home almost two years ago. When we moved here, my dad was living with us part time (about two weeks a month) and so we set it up as his office and used the rest of the space as a dumping ground. Since my dad is only coming out about one week a quarter now, I made the executive decision to take over and make-over the room for my own benefit. Earlier this week I was working on the curtains for it, and tomorrow it gets some fresh paint.
It took most of the day and by the time the room was cleared out, my back was killing me!
When the boys got home it was time to play outside for a bit.
After spending my day getting the room cleared out, I got a call around 4 pm that my painter wasn’t going to be able to make it tomorrow after all. So I took off to Home Depot to pick up some paint supplies and spent the evening prepping the room to paint it myself (I had a little helper). I also was testing out a different light color for the room – the light on the left was what was already in place….the light on the right I picked up when I was at Home Depot and it is “Cool White” – I love how this image shows me how different the colors are. Definitely planning to go with Cool White throughout the room.
Because I was distracted with prepping the office bedtime came and went and the boys were still just hanging out watching a movie with daddy (who was watching the Dodger game on his phone).
