I have never been known for being super tidy. I drove my mother crazy with how messy my room was growing up and while I certainly like to have everything in its place, I am not great about being the one to make that happen. It’s something that I’m consciously working on improving in 2019. What’s funny to me is how Clayton, at four years old, is obsessed with (what he calls) cleaning. He has his cleaning supplies, buckets, spray bottles and towels and goes from room to room doing his “work.” The smears on my windows and mirrors are like nothing you’ve ever seen and yet I am not about to discourage him.
On this day, it was lightly raining outside and Uncle Albert was getting settled into his new space (formerly Clayton’s bedroom). Clayton was “helping” by making sure his old room was nice and clean for its’ new occupant. I caught a glimpse of what he was doing when I had gone outside to grab something from the garage and noticed how sweet the moment was along with how challenging the light situation was to me so I knew it was perfect for this week’s prompt and my personal goal of capturing my family details this year through this project.
