There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens; Ecclesiastes 3:1
I am in a new season. An unchartered territory that has me both excited and terrified. I suppose this season started a few years ago when I was given the label “Advanced Maternal Age” and even though I had my second baby a week before my 40th birthday I didn’t really see myself as getting older.
But I am. Getting older is happening whether we like it or not. Some of the side effects of this truth flat out suck. And as an “older” mommy of two boys under the age of three, I’m not ready to feel (or look) the way I do. How about you? But vanity aside, I firmly believe that how we spend our time is how we live our lives and I for one, want to live my life a certain way.
I am choosing to focus on the things I am passionate about. Spending my time doing and writing about things that I love seems like a pretty good way to live life! So here is a little bit about what you might find me discussing at any given point here on this blog and I hope that you’ll join in the conversations on topics that relate to you…
I Am Passionate About My Faith
I believe that Jesus is the foundation of everything and I want to strive to be more like Him every day. I want my children to grow up knowing the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God and I want to inspire others to come to know or be reminded of God’s truths.
I Am Passionate About Family & Helping Children Who Don’t Have A Stable Family
My biggest role in life is being a wife to Tim and mom to Clayton and Ryker. I’m sure if you follow along you’ll be seeing plenty of them here but if you want a quick intro, you can see some pictures and read about them in my Back to School post.
I have a soft spot for helping children who are in the foster system and I will be sharing some of the ways that I do that in the hope that I can inspire others to do the same.
I Am Passionate About Wellness
In my opinion, there are a variety of ways to look at Wellness and I’m intentionally using the broad term because I have a feeling that I may touch upon a variety of different topics here (early menopause anyone?!?!). But here’s where it’s going to get uncomfortable for me. One of my #truths is that I have been hiding out in yoga pants for over four years – and not because I’ve been working out.
I Am Passionate About Success
I graduated from USD School of Law while working full time in corporate America. I have had a couple of my own successful businesses including a law practice and photography business. And one thing that has been a constant for me is that I consistently invest in my intellectual capital (aka brain power) and have tons that I can share on the topic of money and business. But I’m also planning to highlight and showcase other real moms who have their own businesses and how they have found success working from home.
So thank you for joining me on this journey in the season that some might call “middle-age.” I am hoping to handle it gracefully and to inspire others to do the same.
